Dr Minhyeok Tak

Minhyeok is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University. Minhyeok’s research interest is in the socio-political analysis of integrity issues in sport, such as safeguarding athletes, match-fixing, sports gambling, corruption, etc. Minhyeok’s previous research involves ‘Match-fixing monitoring system in play: Betting, data analysis technology and its effects on sport integrity’ funded by the 2019 IOC’s Early Career Academics Research Grant of the Olympic Studies Centre and his PhD project entitled ‘Sports on the Gambling Table: An Institutional Approach to Match-fixing’ funded by the Doctoral Scholarship of the University of Otago. Born and raised in South Korea, Minhyeok is particularly interested in the East Asian sporting contexts.

Dr Yoon Jin Kim

Yoon Jin is an Assistant Professor in Sport Pedagogy at the University of Birmingham. Her research areas centre on coach/PE teacher socialisation and development, safeguarding in sports coaching. Previously, Yoon Jin conducted an IOC-funded research project ‘Elite sport coaching and integrity: The fine line between excellence and abuse (2020 IOC Early Career Academics Research Grants) and her PhD project ‘Old practices, sports reforms and coaches in a quandary: Sports coaches’ identities and coaching self’ funded by the Doctoral Scholarship of the University of Otago. Yoon Jin was a secondary school PE teacher for 11 years in Seoul and a competitive swimmer representing South Korea in her teens.

Dr Daniel Rhind

Daniel Rhind is a Professor of Sport Psychology at Loughborough University. Daniel’s research is primarily focused on safeguarding children in, around, and through sport. In terms of ‘in’ sport, Daniel’s research was fundamental to the development of the International Safeguards for Children in Sport, which are now endorsed by over 80 organisations around the world. With respect to ‘around’ sport, Daniel’s research on how Mega Sports Events can impact the rights of children has had a significant impact through the Children Win campaign. In terms of ‘through’ sport, Daniel has published research regarding how sport can safeguard children through the development of life skills as well as via Sport for Development programmes. Daniel has received over £0.3m in funding from National Governing Bodies, charities and foundations. Daniel is a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
